Contents of Pigments and Activity of Antioxidant Enzymes in Rice Plants Pre-Treated with Sodium Nitroprusside and Exposed to Clomazone Planta Daninha
SILVA,K.S.; TABALDI,L.A.; ROSSATO,L.V.; CAVICHIOLI,B.M.; BASÍLIO,V.B.; MACHADO,S.L.O..
ABSTRACT: The pre-treatment of rice seeds with sodium nitroprusside (SNP) was used to investigate the effect of exogenous nitric oxide on the pigment content and the activity of antioxidant enzymes during the inhibition of the 2-C-methyl-D-erythritol 4-phosphate (MEP) pathway by the herbicide clomazone. The seeds were soaked in SNP solution (200 mM) for one and 10 hours and sprayed with clomazone, at post-seeding and at the needle-point, with 612 (experiment 1) and 1,224 g a.i. ha-1 (experiment 2). The control of both factors received distilled water. Carotenoids, chlorophylls a, b and total, superoxide dismutase (SOD), guaiacol peroxidase (POD) and the correlation between the variables were evaluated in the shoot of the plants. When compared to the...

Electrolyte Leakage and the Protective Effect of Nitric Oxide on Leaves of Flooded Rice Exposed to Herbicides Planta Daninha
SILVA,K.S.; URBAN,L.J. K.; BALBINOT,A.; GNOCATO,F.S.; KRUSE,N.D.; MARCHESAN,E.; MACHADO,S.L.O..
ABSTRACT The nitric oxide acts on the antioxidant system of plants and can discontinue the damage of herbicides elicitors of oxidative stress that cause the disruption of membranes and leakage of cellular contents. In order to evaluate the protective effect of nitric oxide in electrolytes leakage, leaf segments of the Puita INTA CL rice cultivar were incubated with 0, 5, 50, 500 and 5,000 μM clomazone (360 g a.i. L-1), oxadiazon (250 g a.i. L-1), oxyfluorfen (240 g a.i. L-1) and the formulated mixture of paraquat (200 g a.i. L-1) + diuron (100 g a.i. L-1) to obtain the maximum potential conductivity of 50% (MPC50). Subsequently, leaf segments were pre-treated with 0, 200 and 2,000 μM of sodium nitroprusside (SNP) for four hours and further incubated for 48...

Interference of Morning Glory in Soybean Yield Planta Daninha
PICCININI,F.; MACHADO,S.L.O.; MARTIN,T.N.; KRUSE,N.D.; BALBINOT,A.; GUARESCHI,A..
ABSTRACT: Weed control using herbicides with the same mechanism of action can encourage the emergence of resistant biotypes or tolerant plants. An example of this is the occurrence of morning-glory (Ipomoea sp.) in soybean crops in southern Brazil. In this sense, the aim of this study was to quantify the losses arising from two species of morning-glory weeding coexisting with soybean crop. A field study was conducted in the 2013/2014 season. The experimental design was a randomized block with four replications, with treatments being distributed in a factorial arrangement (2x2x5), which assessed the effect of competition on two soybean cultivars (TEC6029 and TEC7849) of morning-glory species (I. triloba and I. purpurea) in different population (0, 4, 8, 16...

Soybeans Competitiveness with Morning Glory Planta Daninha
PICCININI,F.; MARTIN,T.N.; MACHADO,S.L.O.; KRUSE,N.D.; SCHMATZ,R..
Weeds interfere negatively on development, yield and quality of soybeans (Glycine max). Inadequate weed control by herbicide use can select for resistant or tolerant biotypes, leading to a shift in the weed flora. An example is the increase of incidence of morning glory (Ipomoea spp.) in soybeans growing areas in South Brazil. The aim of this study was to determine the competitiveness of soybeans intercropped with I. triloba, I. indivisa and I. purpurea through a replacement experiments series. Greenhouse experiments were conducted in a completely randomized design with four replications. The first experiment was carried out aiming to get the plant population while total plant dry mass remained constant. Other experiments were done under replacement series...
